I

The international English language testing system (IELTS) is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration, with over 2.2 million tests taken every year. IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment through more than 1,000 test centres and locations in over 140 countries. IELTS is accepted by over 9,000 organisations worldwide, including schools, universities, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies.

The TOEFL test of academic English is the most widely accepted English-language assessment worldwide, recognized by more than 8,500 institutions in more than 130 countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. You can do the TOEFL test on paper or on a computer. There two test formats

In my opinion, they are the most optimal types of testing. And this is a system for testing the development of almost all countries of the world as well as our country. So far, I haven't had to take these exams because I didn't need them.

Both tests consist of four parts that assess your skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. Neither IELTS nor TOEFL assess grammar in a separate section. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of language proficiency is evaluated in the sections of written and oral speech.

Differences

An important difference is that IELTS has a version of General, which is passed for high school education, migration, and employment. Therefore, if you need a certificate not for admission to the University, feel free to choose IELTS. The IELTS Academic version corresponds to the TOEFL exam, which is considered to be an academic text.A key difference between the exams is that, for the Reading and Listening sections, you’ll have to write your own answers for many of the questions on the IELTS, while all the answer choices will be given to you on the TOEFL.Almost everyone who takes the TOEFL will do so on the computer. You are allowed to take notes on scratch paper, but all your official answers will be submitted on the computer. The IELTS, on the other hand, is offered either on the computer or with pencil and paper at many test locations. The oral part of the test is also different: in TOEFL, your answers are recorded on a microphone and sent to the assessment Center, and in IELTS, you personally communicate with the examiner. Another notable difference is the rating scale: IELTS is rated from 0 to 9 in 0.5-point increments, while the TOEFL score is the sum of points for different sections of the test ,maximum of 120 points.

There are two widely known English language tests: TOEFL and IELTS. Students are often faced with the question: which exam should you choose?

The most obvious difference between TOEFL and IELTS is the English version used. So, TOEFL is based on American English, and IELTS is based on British. The differences between the two options are insignificant, but the peculiarities of pronunciation and spelling can cause difficulties even for those who know the language well.

In Conclusion TOEFL and IELTS are the two most commonly administered English language proficiency exams. Both test the same four areas: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, but the tests vary in terms of format and the way they test skills.
