King’s Cross
King’s Cross is a railway station in the north-east of London. It is more than 150 years old. It has 12 platforms and gets millions of passengers every year.
King’s Cross station is very famous all around the world. Joann Rowling made the station a part of her series about Harry Potter. You can read about it in every book. A red-coloured train (the Hogwarts Express) goes from the platform 9¾ to the Hogsmeade station. In the first book, Harry met the Weasley family on the King’s Cross station. In the last book Harry met Dumbledore there. There is no Platform 9¾ in reality, of course. But tourists come to see it anyway. The managers of the railway station made up a monument to Harry Potter in the station: a baggage cart (багажная тележка) half-stuck (наполовину застрявшая) in the wall between the platforms.
