II. The Christian denominations of the UK
Religion is an integral part of the British society. Though one can find a great variety of religious denominations in the UK, there are still two major officially recognized Churches:
Á The Anglican Church (the Church of England)
Á The Presbyterian Church (the Church of Scotland)
The clergy of both churches as well as other denominations are appointed and work in some State services (armed forces, hospitals, etc.). For their service they are paid a salary.
