Walks on Modern Tyumen

Recently my friend has called me and has asked to be a guide of her uncle, Peter Schneider, who lives in Germany and has arrived to Tyumen to work. I have agreed with great pleasure.
Our meeting takes place near The Quality Hotel Tyumen because the visitor of my friend has stayed for a night there. Earlier on a place of hotel there was a sickly public garden. This place attracted a joint-stock company "Zapsibgasprom"(The West Siberian Gas Industry).
They ordered the Turkish firm from Ankara to design and construct the first and unique The Quality Hotel Tyumen. It was constructed by September 25, 1995. The building of hotel has become without any doubt a monument of modern architecture and European design.
First of all, for Peter it was necessary to solve the questions connected with his work, therefore at first we have set off to a building Zapsibgasprom on Republic street. In 1978-1982 years it was a building of 12 floors, then it was added with some structure - a real Tyumen skyscraper. Now it is the highest (67 meters) administrative building of 20 stores. Bulgarian design institute from Sofia projected it. Aluminium panels were delivered from Germany, granite-finishing slab, which reveled the part of a building, also is delivered from abroad.
Walking on the streets of Tyumen we come on to a majestic building, which has caused interest of the Mister Schneider. I have explained him that it is regional de-partment of Federal Security Service, named by Tyumen people «Pentagon» for original pentahedron form.
The time approached dinner and I have recommended Peter the restaurant «The Seventh sky», also belonging to Zapsibgasprom. It offers the extensive entertaining program and refined menu capable to satisfy; even the most refined of the gourmet. This modern building is situated at the crossing of Republic and Melnikaite streets. The appearance of this structure on important site for architecture of Tyumen makes this intersection remembered and expressive.
After dinner my visitor needed to solve some questions about his work in Tyumen saving bank located on Rishskaya street. This building staggers with the con-temporaneity and dynamic of the forms.
In the evening I have decided to show Peter the university, in which I study and to tell slightly about it. In December 1973 the Tyumen Teacher’s college was reor-ganized to the university. To the present moment the university has already 9 build-ings, in which the students of different faculties from different cities of Russia study.
Tyumen TSU (Tyumen State University) occupies a leading position on number of the training students, as TSU—one of the most prestigious universities in the city. One of the most beautiful buildings of university is the building of a faculty of law. The Institute of the State and Law gives a house-warming party on October 24, 1999. The mirror facade of the huge proportions reflects in itself a brisk intersection and ancient buildings of the street Lenin. Especially beautifully the institute looks at nights covered by light-blue lanterns.
And I have decided to finish our walks on Tyumen by visiting a cinema. It is one more sight of the city-new cinema KinoMax-Kosmos on Republic street. It is equipped up to the modern European standards and here always are shown new films of Russian and foreign cinema.
Thus, the day has passed with pleasure and very interesting. Peter has seen modern Tyumen, however it is impossible to learn a city for one day. And he hopes, that he'll visit Tyumen ones more and we’ll I continue acquaintance with our city, which also is famous for its ancient historical monuments of wooden and ancient architecture.
