Market Square and Charge Office Bus Terminus
Market Square and Charge Office were constructed before 1980. The termini were designed for conventional sixty-five sitter buses. These buses operated using stipulated time tables and had parking garages outside the Central Business District (CBD). After the deregulation of the public transport system in 1993 by Central Government, mini buses were allowed to operate as commuter omnibuses in towns but however the holding capacity of ranks remained the same, refer below:
Rank/ Termini | Holding | Actual |
Charge Office | 135 | 500 |
Market Sqaure | 240 | 700 |
Investment Opportunity: Public Private Partnership to develop a modern bus interchange with a shopping mall, parkade and offices for both Market Square and Charge Office. Actual Project cost will depend on Feasibility Study.
